  Monday 18 August 2008
It is more than a contest for a place in Saturday’s final match as Nigeria’s Obinna Nsofor and Belgium’s Moussa Dembele also have to settle the contest for the most potent striker of the tournament.

Both have three goals apiece to trail the four-goal scorer, the Italian Giuseppe Rossi.

Incidentally, the Italian has finished his race.

Two of Dembele’s three goals came in the last match against Italy, but Nsofor is becoming the competition’s serial killer, scoring a goal against every team after the barren draw with Holland on the eve of the games’ opening ceremony.

If he continues his goal-scoring spree, his tally should at least be five at the end of the competition.

Nsofor has a knack for scoring land-mark goals. His goal against Tunisia in the quarter finals of the 2006 African Nations Cup in Egypt was Nigeria’s 100th goal in African Nations Cup history. Panapress.
