Peace agreement in Mali

The Malian government and the Tuareg rebels, meeting under the 23 May Democratic Alliance for Change, have reached an agreement, according to a report on the Algerian radio.

Wednesday 23 July 2008

Algeria has been hosting, since 18 July, two delegations representing the Malian government and the 23 May Democratic Alliance for Change, on talks aimed at restoring peace and security in northern Mali.

Talks between the two parties were held in a peaceful climate, the negotiators had said, noting that they were taking place in line with the letter and spirit of the Algiers Accord signed between the two sides in July 2006.
